AI literacy and scam defense · adults 60+
Seniors are the fastest-growing target for AI-enabled fraud, and the least served by AI education. Brightpath Community meets them where they are: libraries, senior centers, and Area Agencies on Aging, with no logins, no accounts, and nothing to install.
This is the heart of the curriculum: real scenarios, plain language, and a guide named Lumi who never rushes, never scolds, and reads everything aloud. Try one.
Lumi: Let's practice together. Read this phone message and tell me what you think. There are no wrong answers here, only practice.
Three warning signs, and remember that AI can now copy a loved one's voice from a short clip: the urgency ("tonight," "hurry"), the secrecy ("don't tell Mom and Dad"), and the untraceable payment (gift cards). Real emergencies never require gift cards. The safe move: hang up and call your grandchild back at the number you already have.
Illustrative sample of curriculum content. In the full experience, Lumi reads every screen aloud.
The curriculum builds from confidence to competence. Module 2 leads deliberately: scam defense is the need every library director and AAA program officer already hears about from their community.
The kiosk version in development lets patrons practice on their own: walk up, tap start, no account, session erased when they walk away.
What AI is, where seniors already encounter it, and how to use it with confidence rather than fear.
Applying AI tools to daily needs: health questions, communication with family, and finding trustworthy information.
The remaining curriculum modules complete the arc from protection to participation. The full module lineup publishes with the kiosk platform.
Every design decision starts from the population being served. This page follows the same rules the product does.
The design target for the kiosk platform, beyond the AA standard most educational software stops at.
Large type and oversized touch targets throughout, so hands and eyes of every age succeed on the first try.
Every instruction is available read aloud. Literacy level and eyesight are never the barrier.
Walk-up kiosk sessions use anonymous identifiers and erase when the patron walks away. No accounts, no passwords, no patron data collected.
A warm firefly guide with one job: patience. Lumi never rushes, never scolds, and never lets a learner feel foolish.
Workshop materials are designed for library and senior-center staff to deliver without a technical background.
Libraries and Area Agencies on Aging cannot sustain per-patron software fees. One annual fee per physical location covers unlimited patron use.
A no-cost Module 2 workshop at one site, so the community response speaks before any contract does.
One branch, senior center, or program site. Flat annual license, unlimited patrons.
Library systems and multi-site AAAs, priced by site count with per-site cost declining at scale.
County and state aging-services deployments, healthcare co-branding, and train-the-trainer programs, scoped to the engagement.
